An integral member of the Calon Ségur family, the third wine exhibits a freshness and fruitiness geared for immediate enjoyment. It is mainly sourced from the estate’s young vines with a balanced blend made up of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.Since the 2013 vintage, this wine has been given back its original name: Saint-Estèphe de Calon Ségur, a name which in fact was used up till 1999.
This is the “third” wine of famed classed-growth Chateau Calon Segur. From younger vines, this is made for earlier drinking while you wait for the Grand Vin to mature. I tried a bottle of this a few nights ago and it’s fantastic. After about an hour of air, it really does drink like a “baby Calon”. Outstanding value!
