"A blend of Xinomavro and Moschomavro and aged in stainless steel, this rose is bold in color, smell and palate. Deep pinkish red in color, the nose explodes with rich ripe red berries, crisp stone fruit and hints of white pepper and minerality. Floral, spicy and exotic, the palate is medium to full bodied, drinking like a clean light red wine. Ripe raspberries and wild strawberries roll in the mid palate creating a point of sweetness, following with a briny, vibrant mineral driven finish." - Winery notes
A custom cuvée for European Cellars and a joint project between Eric Solomon and Jean-Marc Lafage, Bastide Miraflors is a cuvée created from old vine Grenache (30%) grown on the schist and granite soils of Saint-Paul de Fenouillet, a terroir that always ripens late in the year, and Syrah (70%) from gravelly soils near the Mediterranean. After a long maceration of six weeks, the wine ages for 12 months in roughly 3/4 concrete vats and 1/4 600L French oak demi-muids.
Costamolino, named for the area, is made from Vermentino, an aromatic white grape variety that thrives in the Mediterranean climate of Sardinia. The grapes are harvested in August and September and vinified in stainless-steel tanks to retain acidity. A small percentage sees malolactic fermentation to give the wine roundness and texture.
