Château de Montifaud has belonged to the Vallet family since 1837, when Augustin Vallet founded the estate at the heart of the Petite Champagne appellation. Now run by the sixth generation, the family farms its own vineyards across both Petite and Grande Champagne, distilling and aging every drop on-site rather than sourcing from outside growers. True to house practice, Montifaud produces this V.S. as a pure expression of Petite Champagne rather than blending it with fruit from elsewhere.

The cognac is distilled entirely from estate-grown Ugni Blanc, held on the lees before distillation to build extra aromatic structure. It then matures in French oak, meeting the two-year minimum required for the V.S. designation while emphasizing freshness and varietal clarity over extended aging, a style meant to showcase Petite Champagne's chalky terroir at its most youthful and precise.

The color is a light, bright gold. On the nose, white fruit and grape lead, joined by citrus peel and a touch of floral lift, with subtle vanilla and gentle oak spice underneath. The palate is lively and well balanced, with a soft texture and a clean, refreshing finish. It works nicely served neat, though its brightness also makes it a natural fit for classic cognac cocktails.
