The Casa Gran del Siurana project began in the year 2000 to produce the best possible wines in Priorat from scratch selecting the land with most potential, choosing the most suitable vine stocks and cultivating them carefully until the optimum moment for harvesting, then deciding on the best means of vinification and ageing.
WINEMAKING Fermentation is carried out both in steel tanks and in oak barrels, with ageing on the lees in vats and a small part ageing in barrels. TASTING NOTES Very deep cherry red. Intense, fresh aromas of cassis, red fruits, blackberries, redcurrants, with a balsamic and spicy background. Fresh but meaty in the mouth. Silky, full-bodied with elegant and present tannins
A fresh and vibrant merlot with racy plums, cherries, olives and touches of pencil shavings, iron and cumin. Medium- to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins and a crunchy, fresh finish. Pretty long and fruity. Textbook-quality merlot. Better from 2025.
I went out of my way last year to visit this beautiful property located right in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers between the Garonne and the Dordogne, not far from Saint-Émilion. A very beautiful terroir, and their Merlot based red is easy-drinking yet has some very fine complexity. Tour St. Bonnet is located in Northern part of the Medoc (north of St. Estephe). One of the Médoc’s most reliable overachievers, Château Tour St. Bonnet has been under the stewardship of the Lafon family since the 17th century. The vineyards, planted predominantly to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with touches of Petit Verdot and Malbec, lie on gravelly soils just north of Saint-Estèphe — prime Left Bank terroir without the lofty price tag.
The 2016 vintage in Bordeaux is already the stuff of legend, and Tour St. Bonnet shows it in spades: deep cassis, graphite, and tobacco leaf framed by supple yet persistent tannins. Unlike many of its neighbors, the wine is aged in traditional large oak foudres rather than small barriques, which preserves purity of fruit and a true expression of terroir.

Halfway between Bordeaux and Montpellier, Cahors is as close to the Mediterranean as it is to the Atlantic Ocean. And while this commune is technically part of the Occitanie region—which encompasses the Languedoc wine region—the red wine this AOC produces is arguably a nearer relative to those of Pomerol and Saint-Émilion than it is to those from the great Languedocien villages.
